Samantha Holland
Described in the Legal 500 2025 as "an encyclopaedia of insurance law", Samantha leads the UK Commercial Litigation and Insurance teams at Gowling WLG. A fully qualified solicitor advocate as well as an experienced litigator she has over 25 years' experience of acting in the insurance sector.
Primarily acting for policyholders, she advises on all aspects of insurance, including in relation to the placement of cover and the negotiation of policy wordings or insurance clauses in commercial contracts. On claims, she adds value by advising in straightforward terms whether a policy will pay out in the event of a claim (and when it may not) and deploying her knowledge of the insurance market, how best to present the claim and engage with industry parties to secure the best possible outcome from a commercial perspective. She has a particular specialism in warranty & indemnity (W&I) insurance, having been involved in that market since its infancy and developed a formidable reputation with insurers, brokers and other firms
She is also somewhat of an Insurtech geek, applying her technical insurance knowledge and commercial expertise to new and emerging areas of law. She has spoken several times at Insurtech Insights on the impact of new technologies on all aspects of the insurance value-chain.
